Cotswolds Facts
- The Cotswolds is an area of 787 square miles in the south of England.
- The highest point in the Cotswolds is at Cleeve Hill some 330m above sea level.

- The Cotswolds are spread across six counties - Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Somerset, Warwickshire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire.
- In 1966 it was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which currently holds the same importance as National Parks.
- Extraction of the famous honey coloured Cotswold stone still takes place today for use in new buildings.
- The wool trade played a massive part in the prosperity of the area. This includes donations from local merchants to towns and villages to build lavish churches.
